About Ernst & Young (EY) 2026 CA STREAM Bursary South African Students
The Ernst & Young (EY) 2026 CA Stream Bursary is designed to assist academically gifted South African students who are pursuing or planning to pursue a Chartered Accountancy (CA) qualification.
EY offers two types of bursaries under this programme. The first is the Academic Merit Bursary, which provides partial coverage of tuition fees for students with outstanding academic results. The second is the Academic Merit with Financial Need Bursary, which offers more comprehensive support. Depending on the applicant’s circumstances, this may cover not only tuition fees but also accommodation, prescribed books, meals, and other study-related expenses.
Candidates are expected to demonstrate strong academic performance, commitment to their studies, and a genuine passion for the accounting profession. Those applying for the Academic Merit with Financial Need Bursary must also provide proof of household income, such as recent payslips or a sworn affidavit.
EY partners with various SAICA-accredited institutions across South Africa for this programme. These include leading universities such as the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits), the University of Cape Town (UCT), Stellenbosch University, the University of Pretoria (UP), and the University of Johannesburg (UJ). Other participating institutions include Rhodes University, the University of the Western Cape (UWC), the University of the Free State (UFS), etc.

What You Should Know About Ernst Young (EY) 2026 CA STREAM Bursary
Eligibility Requirements
Here are the two main requirements for the EY 2025 Stream Bursary:
- Valid South African identity document
- Academic record of a minimum of four A’s, excluding Life Orientation in matric results that you will be studying toward a relevant CA degree at a SAICA (South African Institute of Chartered Accountants) accredited University.
You must attach the following documents while submitting your application; CV, transcript and photo ID.

Benefits of Ernst & Young (EY) 2026 CA STREAM
Ernst & Young (EY) 2026 CA STREAM Bursary for South Africans are awarded to individuals who we believe have the commitment to qualify as a Chartered Accountant and an academic record which indicates the ability to do so with due regard to financial need. In exchange for the bursary, the student is required to work at EY for the duration of their training contract (a minimum of three years).
There are two types of bursaries open for application.
- Academic Merit with Financial Need Bursary: This covers one or more, or a combination of tuition, accommodation, books and/or meals.
- Academic Merit Bursary: This covers a portion of the tuition fees
