Why You Should Apply For the Afreximbank Internship
The African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) is a pan-African multilateral financial institution founded in 1993 to finance, promote, and expand intra- and extra-African trade.
To facilitate continental trade, the company offers students the opportunity to apply for internships. This opportunity is open to full-time undergraduate and postgraduate students.
Eligibility Requirements To Apply for Afreximbank Internship
Applications are open for Afreximbank’s 2027/2028 internship programme.
- Nationals of Afreximbank member countries, students of African descent in the diaspora, and non-African students whose vision for Africa aligns with the Group’s mission are eligible.
- Candidates must be aged 20 to 32 in the year of application.
- Applicants fluent in English or French must also have a working knowledge of the other language. Arabic or Portuguese is an advantage.
- Full-time undergraduate or postgraduate students in a recognized institution during the internship year are preferred.
- Relevant study areas include economics, business administration, finance, accounting, social sciences, statistics, law, sciences, engineering, and related disciplines.
- Children of Afreximbank staff are not eligible.
Selection is based on merit. The list of member countries is available through the Bank’s website.

Internship benefits
- Medical insurance during the internship.
- A tax-free monthly stipend of US$1,000.
- A US$500 monthly housing allowance for interns relocating from their home countries.
- For eligible arriving interns, one week of bank-selected hotel accommodation on a bed-and-breakfast basis during induction.
- Transfers to the hotel on arrival and on departure at the end of a successful internship.
- A residence visa for the internship period if required.
