The Danish Data Science Academy (DDSA) invites young researchers in data science to apply for six renowned two-year fellowships. The fellowships, valued at DKK 1.3 million (+ 5% administrative fees), offer a unique opportunity for postdoctoral researchers to advance their careers and build scientific networks in conjunction with Danish universities.
All applicants must have a well-defined research proposal and an agreement with a host institution. Furthermore, the candidate must begin the research project before December 15, 2025, unless otherwise agreed with DDSA.

What Is Danish Data Science Academy Fellowship All About?
The fellowship is a fixed individual research grant supporting early career data scientists to develop and consolidate their individual research identity and scientific network. By focusing on academic freedom and the researcher-driven idea, we aim to foster talents and engage and empower the new generation of data science researchers in Denmark.
DDSA works with a broad definition of data science, both methodological and applied. They award applicants who combine excellent data science qualifications, creativity, passion for research, and the desire to engage with the data science community.
The program is dedicated to promoting equal opportunities for all applicants regardless of gender, nationality, background, and geography. Applications will be invited yearly via an open competition call.

Eligibility Criteria
DDSA Postdoc fellowship welcomes applications that combine excellent data science qualifications, creativity, passion for research, and the desire to engage with the data science community.
Each applicant must satisfy the following requirements:
- Must hold a PhD degree or have their thesis accepted for defense before June 1, 2025.
- PhD must have been obtained within the past 6 years, excluding documented parental leave.
- Must demonstrate high-level proficiency in oral and written English.
- Must secure an agreement with a Danish host institution willing to support the research project for two years.
- Encouraged to conduct the project at a different institution from where their PhD was earned to promote mobility and independence.

Research Project:
- Must align with DDSA’s broad definition of data science, covering theoretical research, methods development, or innovative applications.
- Should demonstrate potential for significant impact in the field or novel applications of data science.
- Must comply with the Novo Nordisk Foundation’s research scope.
Host Institution:
When choosing a host institution, ensure the following:
- Must be a Danish research institution in a relevant field.
- Must provide a statement of support for hosting the applicant for two (2) years.

Application for the Danish Data Science Academy Postdoc Fellowship closes on March 5, 2025, at 23:59 (UTC + 01:00).

What Happens After Applying For DDSA Fellowship?
After application, applicants not invited for interviews will be informed by ultimo May 2025. On the other hand, candidates invited for interviews but not selected for a fellowship will receive brief individual feedback on the proposed research project as well as the interview performance in June 2025.
Candidates awarded a postdoc fellowship will, in June 2025, receive a phone call followed by a grant agreement specifying the grant conditions.
Please note: Applications can be in any research field within applied and/or theoretical data science aligning with the research scope of the DDSA Postdoc funder, the Novo Nordisk Foundation.
